This is going to be my first serious work. This story, unlike any story i have writen before, is going to take alot of time. Before each update took 30-45 mins, where as each of these updates are going to take at least 3 hours. I wrote it in notebook paper, then i typed it up, then i editted it, then i added more details in, then i added more dialogue, then i editted it again. I promised myself that i wouldn't rush with updates like i did with other stories, which is most of the reason i quit all the others, and when you guys read them they were so rough. I tryed my best to have this be a smooth, funny, intresting, enjoyable read. Just this part of the prologue is 1/5 of everything i had for zayah. I hope you enjoy it. I'm sorry if there are still a few weird spots, but it's hard to edit your own work. If anyone finds something REALLY weird, please tell me, and i'll fix it. This will be a story like never before.
Prologue. Update one.
In the underworld, there is a meeting is being held among the overlords of the seven hells. Each hell represents one of the seven deadly sins, pride, greed, gluttony, envy, lust, sloth, and wrath. Each overlord is the extreme of the sin, causing them to have their own unique way of ruling and fighting style.
The dining hall was massive, the size of a human football field. Except for the overlords, there was nobody else in the room. There was a mountain of food in the middle of the round stone table. Around the table were seven chairs, made of the highest quality wood. The tiles are of marble, it shone and reflected brilliantly and the walls of the room are made of mirrors. High above, hanging from the mirrored roof were diamond chandeliers that lit the room with light enchantments. The entire room was shining with the light, reflecting off of every panel creating an amazing light effect. An old dark elf stood up, and began to speak.
“Greetings to you all, as you all know, I have called you all here to my castle for a meeting of the overlords, something that hasn’t happened for over 20 years.” He took a sip from his crystal glassware, containing some sort of wine. “I know that it’s been a long time since we have met outside the field of battle, but I think that it’s about time that we end the constant wars among ourselves.”
Zaeth, the overlord of wrath, someone that does not take war and peace lightly. Anyone that crosses him will be destroyed. He is a strict dictator over his large amount of land, and has the best army of all the overlords. Even though he is extremely strict and nasty, at times he can be quite merciful.
“I understand where you’re coming from Zaeth, but can we eat now, I’m going to starve to death before your speech is over.” A large bearded man blubbered, reaching for a piece of chicken.
Bochard, the overlord of gluttony, is the most merciful of all the overlords. Like his title proclaims, he is extremely fat, eating all the time. He drinks all sorts of intoxicating drinks, yet never gets drunk. He loves to laugh and tell jokes; he’s the smart ass of the group. He makes sure that all of the food of his hell is the best it can be. With the finest farming and animal raising around, everything that comes from his medium sized hell is of the most superior quality.
The woman next to him smacked the food out of Bochard’s hand, and the food hit the ground. A minor demon ran in an incredible speed and cleaned the food and the spot in an instant, running back into the kitchen through mirrored doors.
“You really shouldn’t be eating so much Bochard, it’s bad for your health, then again, at the point your at, I’m not sure if anything would do much good.” The woman mocked.
Destiny, the overlord of lust is the only female overlord. She is extremely attractive, and she wears practically nothing. Every guy in the entire underworld wants her, but she stays single at all times. She won’t do anything with anyone, because she is smart enough to see through the fact that they want her for her body. She rules her slightly large amount of land by keeping the citizens at bay with her good looks.
“Now, now, there shall be no bickering about each-other while you’re in my castle.” Zaeth interfered.
“Well, it’s not our fault you have such a grand castle.” A small child like boy spoke. “I mean seriously, an entire dining room lined with mirrors!” He bowed his head and shook it in shame.
Envy, obviously the overlord of envy, has the lowest self-esteem of all the overlords. Nothing is ever good enough for him, so he hardly tries to get anything in his life. Living in the most poorly made castle, he is the poorest of all the overlords. His people live in poverty, even though they cannot die again, they still suffer. He complains about how poor he is and how everyone is so much better then him, and is extremely annoying. Even though he has the appearance of a 10 year old human, in reality he is a shape-shifter.
“Envy, please don’t throw yourself another pity party, I mean seriously, you almost bored us to death with your constant complaining.” Bochard said scratching his beard.
Envy sat there in silence, crossed his arms and pouted. Most of the time he acts the way he looks, he’s good at staying in character.
“Envy!” Destiny said in a harsh tone. The rest of the overlords perked up.
“If you start crying, I’m going to smack you!” She continued scolding the boy like overlord.
The boy shifted into the form of Destiny and mockingly repeated her exact words. Half the table laughed, while the others gave Envy a deep stare.
“Alright, you heard Zaeth; we need to take this meeting seriously!” The giant ogre like man spoke, with muscles bigger then his head.
Orion, the overlord of pride, is always thinking about ways to gain even more power. He constantly gloats about how powerful he is, and how his kingdom is always under complete control. His kingdom has a medium amount of land and power, and most of the other overlords leave him alone, whether or not the power he gloats about is true.
“Oh you be quiet too, you oversized booger.” Bochard chuckled, while everyone but Orion and Zaeth laughed.
“I agree with the fat one, you just want to be on Zaeth’s good side so that if/when we get to the redividing of the hells, you’ll get a larger share.” Proclaimed an average looking elf, from acrossed the table.
Xiavor, the overlord of greed, is the richest of the overlords. A master of trade and persuasion, he buys things for dirt cheap, and then resells them for triple the price easily. He has the most land of all the overlords, but in his attempt to have more money, he over taxes his citizens, making him one of the most hated overlords.
“Those are mighty strong words coming from an elf that can hardly lift his wine glass.” Orion chuckled.
“Now you’re just contradicting yourself Orion, throwing insults around.” Bochard pointed out, proud that he made the mighty ogre eat his words.
A sleepy figure raised his head off his plate and looked at Bochard with a death glare. Bochard stared back, surprised to see the lazy figure move his mouth to speak.
Yoon, the overlord of sloth, is of course the laziest of all the overlords. His hell is the smallest, because he is a giant pushover. Because of his lack of leadership, his hell is also in total chaos all the time. He sits on his throne all day, almost bored to tears; coming to this meeting was the first time he had left his castle for 12 years
“How can anyone sleep around here with all this fighting at the table?!” Yoon yawned, putting his elbow on the table and resting his head on it.
“How can someone sleep so much?” “I mean seriously, I’ve heard of beauty rest, but after a good 16 hours or so, it’s just stupid!” Destiny answered, even though she knew it was a rhetorical question.
“That’s enough!” The wrath overlord shouted, standing again and raising his voice in anger. All eyes were fixed on him, and the room went silent.
He slammed his hands against the table. “You have all disrespected me, I invite you into my home to offer peace, and you constantly fight!” He started panting uncontrolably. “GET OUT!”
